If you have any stories, comments or questions about this site, I'll be happy to hear them, and will do my best to respond appropriately.

For What It's Worth

I first became interested in Robert Burns after a beloved high school history teacher made a derisive comment about Scottish "culture," many years ago. (Something about Scots living in caves, turpentine, and haggis.) I live in beautiful Flatbush, Brooklyn, USA, with my remarkable wife, Gretchen, and 3! extraordinary daughters. I teach art to elementary school students in a Special Education program, love to listen to honkin', screamin' 50's R'n'B, drink whisky, and smoke cigars. I enjoy playing Diplomacy by e-mail, riding my bicycle around Brooklyn, and taking long swims in cold, northern lakes. There's not a Scottish bone in my body, and my mother would probably claim that the Scots are a lost tribe of the Jewish Diaspora.
My scant, cheapskate knowledge of HTML was gleaned from on-line tutorials. Especially useful were Jerry Zeldman's (now defunct) early HTML tutorials. Jay Boersma's Webwork (a good, basic "how to" site). Joe Barta's So, you want to make a Web Page! (another good, basic "how to" site). And, David Siegel's excellent Web Wonk site. I used Tom Bender's wonderful Tex-Edit Plus to compile this site. It's a fantastic, small footprint, AppleScriptable, text editor that I can't say enough good things about. ($15 Shareware!).

About.com's Web Clip Art was used to search for some of the graphics on these pages. The Celtic images were designed by Chris Wright.

If you have surrendered to the dark forces of the Wintel Empire, please ease your journey through the valley of the shadow of the Redmond Monolith by visiting Dave's Place - A Beginner's Guide to Freeware and Shareware on the Internet. It's a nifty, award winning site maintained by my dedicated colleague and HTML design crony, (Your Guess Here) Leibowitz.

This web site was made with a Mac and is best viewed while enjoying a nice cuppa coffee.
